About me
Hi there!
My name is Billy, a New Zealander slow traveling his way around Asia mostly on public buses, local ferries, trains and whatever else I think is both exciting and gets me there cheaply. I’m not chasing luxury resorts or overpriced cafés. I’m here for roadside food stands, long travel days, and the moments that happen in between.
I am 27 years old, seafarer by trade but my passion has always been story telling and video making. I have no formal education in this sort of thing apart from a few classes in high-school so be patient while I expand my skills!
What should you expect from me and my content?
Why do I call myself WrongWayBilly?
I got tired of seeing travel content online that seems staged, sponsored and disconnected from reality. I wanted a space where I can share my travel experiences. This is not a place for just the highlights but a place to share the awkward bits: The heat, the scams and the bits that make me question my choices. But this is also a place to share the kindness from the road and the unexpected friendships you can make when you just start to smile a bit more.
So the name WrongWayBilly is more of a play on words that I am choosing to go the way that people would see as the wrong way to travel, the fact that I am not staying in expensive hotels and am choosing the local transport where you are "safe with the large number of other tourists"

Thank you for taking the time to read more about me and my aims, be sure to follow me on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram to stay in the loop. They are all under the name of @WrongWayBilly
If you would like to support me, you can choose to buy me a coffee here or just follow along for a daily coffee or drink photo with a bit more behind the camera look into my life from the road!
